The Assistant Lab Supervisor positon is from 10 am-6:30pm Monday through Friday, there are no weekend and Holiday requirements.

The technologist will be cross-trained in Hematology, Chemistry and Lab Control. 

 This is a working Assistant Supervisor position, typically based in Hematology but will provide coverage and  supervisory guidance to all three departments as needed.

  • To maintain close communication with the supervisors on matters pertaining to the policies and procedures of the laboratory.
  • To assist the supervisor in such things as scheduling, inventory, development of new procedures, quality control, continuing education and quality improvement activities.
  • To assist the supervisor in conducting annual performance evaluations of the staff members, in order to assure that all requirements included in the various job descriptions are met.
  • To be a working assistant supervisor, capable of filling any staff position in the  Hematology, Chemistry and lab Control Laboratories.
  • To represent the department in the absence of, or when requested by the supervisors.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all elements of the DFCI Code of Conduct and Ethical Behavior, in particular as it applies to the billing and/or crediting of laboratory tests.


  • BS, MT (ASCP) or recognized equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 5 yrs in Hematology and /or Chemistry or related laboratory work.
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred.
