This position is Monday-Friday from 11pm-7am and is eligible for our Overnight Shift Differential.

Responsibilities

DFCI has an opening for a Building Automation Technician specializing in Critical Alarm Monitoring System (CAMS) Freezers who will work closely with our CAMS Manager, our Research Faculty and staff, as well as Department Management to provide operational and administrative management support for the CAMS Core at Dana-Farber. 

This will be for 3rd shift, hours 11pm to 7am Monday through Friday.

  • Provide input into the planning, operation and coordination of the CAMS Core
  • Conduct testing of all equipment on a monthly basis.
  • Perform system wide programming changes
  • Conduct annual Preventative Maintenance for freezers.  Follow up on any issues noted with research staff.  Distribute reports, and manage inventory database for each freezer.
  • Maintain contact information of CAMS Responders in Siemens and AWARE systems
  • Assess and provide recommendations for repair or replacement of malfunctioning equipment
  • Replace freezer batteries upon request
  • Monitor equipment either remotely, or on campus when necessary during scheduled power outages
  • Provide emergency response (as a last resort) for equipment incidents

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Superb interpersonal skills, service oriented and able to interface with a wide range of personalities.
  • Excellent organizational skills required with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions based on a variety of circumstances
  • In-depth knowledge of various types of freezers and lab equipment required.
  • Mechanically Inclined.
  • Knowledge of specimen and tissue handling a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer programming.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with equipment alarms in a research setting a plus.
  • Background in refrigeration, cascade loop/sequence in Ultra-Low Temperature compressors.
  • Basic scientific background a plus.
  • Knowledge of building automation/controls
