The Data Analyst is a key member of the Prospect Research team within the Division of Philanthropy, a large fundraising office that raises over $300M annually for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the leading cancer hospital in New England. The Data Analyst gathers, manipulates, analyzes, and presents donor demographic, activity and giving data to enable Philanthropy leadership and frontline fundraisers to better understand, prioritize, and engage with constituents. The Analyst also partners with fundraising teams on a variety of data projects to enable them to reach or exceed their revenue goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the Senior Associate Director, Analytics, Prospect Research. Has no direct supervisory responsibilities. This position will seek major decision-making authority from direct supervisors. However, independent work on day-to-day tasks and good judgment is required for dealing with Institute donors, senior staff, and confidential information.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience required. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with data analysis in a fundraising, market research or other business environment preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The Data Analyst must have problem solving, attention to detail, analytical ability, and proficiency with data analysis software. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, macros, VBA) are a must. Familiarity with visualization software such as Tableau and statistical software such as SAS, R and/or Python strongly preferred.
A willingness to learn, collaborative attitude, good listening, and strong presentation skills are also essential.
This position will evaluate current programs and create and execute approved plans to expand and diversify the donors and participants for the events assigned in order to broaden our donor base and create even more inclusive events. Experience with diverse donors is a plus.
Typical office setting. Some evening or weekend work may be required.
