Overview

Dana-Farber is seeking a Research Informatics Reporting Analyst to join the Research Data Services Team. The Analyst will act as research data navigator to help investigators obtain clinical and genomics data for various research projects. The incumbent will help define requests, develop cohorts, obtain governance group approval, develop analytics, and provide education for the Dana-Farber research community. The incumbent will also work collaboratively with other Informatics staff to develop data and analytic tools to enable easier access to a wide variety of research data. 

The Research Informatics Reporting Analyst will also be responsible for customer support, data quality assurance and compliance with DFCI data release policies. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Manager of Research Data Services and the Research Informatics for Operations Management team. The incumbent will be expected to manage the data request and delivery process with minimal guidance, from requirements gathering through delivery, including interacting with customers to define requirements, communicating on request status, developing data outputs and working alongside existing Informatics technical and operational teams to ensure efficient delivery of data.

Requirements

  • Manages end-to-end research data request, approval and delivery process
  • Conducts meetings with investigators and their teams to understand and interpret research data needs
  • Works as a liaison between the requester and data governance bodies (e.g., Human Subjects Oversight) to ensure that requests are approved in a timely manner
  • Generates data sets using SQL, BusinessObjects and other data analysis tools
  • Build strong relationships with the Research Informatics for Operations customer base
  • Works with Informatics and other cross-functional teams to provide outstanding customer support
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for available clinical and genomic data as well as the Research Data Request and Generation processes and provides user assistance, as necessary in these areas
  • Works with other informatics groups to ensure the quality of the data
  • Works with senior research leadership, Informatics leadership and all levels of informatics staff to improve all aspects of the data request process through process and software enhancements
  • Participates in training and documentation efforts to ensure that the research data request process can be used effectively by a wide range of investigators and staff
  • Communicate status of projects to customers and informatics management to ensure they are informed about progress and obstacles
  • Responsible for the security and confidentiality of private clinical and financial information

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or research-related program required, Master's degree preferred
  • 4+ years of direct analytical work experience in a customer facing role, in an academic and/or healthcare setting required
  • 4 years of experience performing data analysis in clinical research analyses and visualization work in a healthcare setting required
  • Proven skills in data analysis using SQL and experience with data analysis and visualization software, including BusinessObjects, Tableau or PowerBI tools required
  • Clear, concise written and oral communication skills, combined with the ability to focus on multiple projects of different duration and complexity levels
  • Ability to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity and discretion
  • Knowledge of data housed in electronic medical records, cancer registries, and other healthcare systems as well as medical terminologies, controlled vocabularies, ontologies, HIPAA regulations and industry standards, required. 
  • Knowledge of Oncology data and related areas strongly preferred.
