Overview

This position has as its primary responsibility the day-to-day operations of the DFCI mammography program, including the mobile van and mammography suite at Whittier Street Health Center. The coordinator will use various office software to prepare for and execute the clinic day. This position also requires knowledge of the Institute’s practices and policies and serves as a liaison internally and externally to provide comprehensive mammography services.

Requirements

  • In collaboration with the Program Manager and the Supervisor of Breast Imaging, work as an integral part of the team to increase awareness about the importance of comprehensive mammography services that include imaging and breast health.
  • In partnership with the community sites, ensure accurate eligibility for mammography.
  • Prepare for screening day, including creating orders and scheduling appointments.
  • Carry out workflow which includes requesting prior mammography images and reports as well as preparing detailed and accurate work lists for radiologists’ interpretation of mammography cases.
  • Send out patient result letters and reports in a timely manner to ensure compliance.
  • Track and monitor all mammography follow-up as required for regulatory compliance. Communicate these results to the Clinical Director of Breast Imaging as well as the Manager of Breast Imaging.
  • Assist community sites with scheduling follow-up appointments to ensure compliance.
  • May be responsible for community outreach activities under the direction of the Program Manager.

  • Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1 year of relevant experience within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with peers, leadership, and external contacts.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and be detail oriented.
  • Excellent ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through.
  • Be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.
  • Bilingual (preferably Spanish speaking).

PATIENT CONTACT:

Yes. Women who need a mammogram and breast health information with a special focus on medically underserved neighborhoods of Greater Boston.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Fast-paced, demanding clinical environment.  Will require travel to priority neighborhoods in Greater Boston; responsible for transportation to and from van sites.


Monday through Friday, occasional weekends. Typical 8-hour workday, with occasional late work.
