The laboratory of Joseph Mancias, MD, PhD at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA is inviting applications for a funded postdoctoral researcher position.

The Mancias Lab studies critical aspects of the biology of pancreatic cancer in order to develop novel therapeutic approaches. Particular areas of emphasis are on the role of selective autophagy and iron metabolism in pancreatic cancer molecular pathogenesis (Mancias et al, Nature 2014; Mancias et al, eLife 2015; Santana-Codina et al, Cancer Discovery 2022 – in press).  We are also interested in identifying the biochemical pathways and signaling networks that mediate pancreatic cancer treatment resistance, including to targeted inhibitors (e.g. oncogenic KRAS inhibitors, immunotherapy and radiotherapy (Biancur et al, Nature Communications 2017; Santana-Codina et al, Cell Reports 2020).

The lab takes a comprehensive approach to study our questions combining biochemical, quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics, CRISPR genetic screens (in vitro and in vivo), cell biological, and mouse modeling techniques.

The post-doctoral fellow will be part of a rich intellectual and collaborative environment and will have access to state-of-the-art facilities within the laboratory, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, and other top academic institutions across the Boston Area. Importantly, we are part of a Pancreatic Cancer Research Collective, the Hale Family Pancreatic Cancer Research Center at Dana-Farber that brings together investigators from a wide variety of backgrounds for collaborative projects on pancreatic cancer.   • Designing and executing in vitro and in vivo experiments
  • Conducting data analysis and interpreting results 
  • Maintaining accurate records, writing reports, and preparing and giving presentations
  • Contributing to the overall laboratory safety, organization and productivity
  • Generating impactful peer-reviewed research articles
  • Writing for grant opportunities


  • Recently completed a Ph.D. in the general area of biomedical sciences
  • Highly motivated, independent yet willing to collaborate with other team members and eager to develop and pursue a novel research program
  • A strong background in utilizing mouse models of disease
  • A background of scientific accomplishment including at least one first author peer-reviewed publication
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
