Overview

As a key player in our clinical research enterprise, Research Pharmacy is responsible for pharmaceutical management of investigational drugs for oncology trials. Our mission is to provide the highest quality pharmaceutical cares to our research patients. The primary objective of Research Pharmacist is to carry out pharmacy review of oncology trial protocols, set up logistics operation for trial activation, identify and resolve trial related clinical and logistic issues, and complete tasks to comply with institutional, state and federal regulations. This is a full-time position that may have some remote work but employees must reside in MA, NH or RI.

Requirements

  1. Reviews clinical research protocols and subsequent amendments for pharmacy specific implications for the assigned disease groups; makes recommendations for changes as needed.
  2. Determines clinical trial feasibility to be operated on site. Serves as pharmacy representative for timely activation of protocols and corresponding amendments, including signing off on Willow medication entries and Beacon templates.
  3. Represents the pharmacy department on key clinical research protocol committees including institutional review board and the scientific review board.
  4. Participates in all study related pharmacy tasks throughout protocol life cycle, including site qualification process, site initiation visits, monitoring visits, audits, and study closeout.
  5. Collaborates with principal investigators, research nurses and/or clinical research coordinators regarding administration of protocol. Coordinates pharmacy protocol education programs for active treatment protocols as necessary.
  6. Subject expert in the required procurement process for each drug in their assigned protocols and is responsible maintaining adequate inventory.
  7. Prepares and dispenses investigational drugs including ones involving unusual preparation processes, limited stability, and blinded products.
  8. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  1. PharmD. degree or B.S. in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  2. Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  3. 3 to 5 years of hospital pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience is required. Oncology experience is recommended.
