A lab technician position is available for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is interested in hands-on bench research in the area of viral immunology, host defense and therapeutic antibody discovery. This individual will be an integral member of our research team and will be mentored by senior members of the lab on different research projects, including identifying murine/human antibodies and developing new therapies for infectious disease related applications.
As a bench scientist, this position requires basic biochemical, molecular and cell biology skills including day-to-day cell culture, molecular cloning, various protein production/analysis techniques. There will be opportunities to contribute to research projects related to humoral cross-reactivity against influenza and COVID-19 infection, as well as the discovery of novel antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease. Additional work includes performing literature searches, writing up methods and materials, results, figure legends and constructing figures for grant proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts.
This position also shares responsibilities for lab maintenance and operation. Applicant with 1+ years of lab experience with strong background in both molecular and cell biology techniques including production of recombinant proteins in E. coli and mammalian cells as well as subsequent biochemical and immunological analysis are preferred.
