The Senior Reimbursement Analyst develops routine and ad hoc financial reports and analysis related to net patient revenue.  The Senior Reimbursement Analyst prepares key analyses to support the annual Medicare cost reporting process.


  • Prepares monthly analyses and journal entries to support the monthly general ledger closing process as it relates to patient revenue, valuation of accounts receivable and third-party liabilities, including among other key analyses valuation of the contractual adjustments and accounts receivable run-outs.
  • Prepares monthly reporting of budget vs. actual financial and statistical data as it relates to patient revenue, bad debt expense and other related accounts.
  • Prepares sections of the monthly patient revenue close reports.
  • Prepares certain sections of the annual Medicare and CHIA cost reports for the Institute. Maintains key analyses and reports to complete cost reports on a timely basis and to maximize reimbursement within allowable guidelines. Includes maintaining, monitoring and collecting intern, resident and fellow FTE counts, physician time & effort reporting, etc.
  • Assists with the development of the net patient revenue, bad debt and other related accounts for the annual budget and long-range forecast for the Institute.
  • Interprets information requests from business partners, furnishes appropriate data to address key stakeholders needs, and summarizes and presents to key stakeholder leadership.
  • Independently completes revenue surveys and regulatory reports.
  • Presents to Finance leadership on trend analyses, key findings and summaries of projects.


Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.  Experience in accounting or finance may substitute for degree.

Minimum Experience:
4 years of experience in reimbursement, accounting, patient accounting, or health care finance.


  • Advanced understanding of financial statements, hospital reimbursement, monthly financial reporting, forecasting and financial modelling.
  • Skilled at complex financial analysis, aggregating, manipulating and summarizing large data sets.
  • Superior MS suite skills including advanced excel functions like pivot tables, vlookups, hlookups.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Advanced understanding of automated GL system queries and EPIC or hospital billing system data extraction and reporting.
  • Ability to handle complex and multi-part analyses, prepare and present summaries of important points. 
  • Ability to exercise superior judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills to effectively work and communicate on sensitive political and confidential issues.
