The Senior Research Data Curation Specialist will support the clinical research program in the areas of data collection, computing, and database organization. Duties include the examination, synthesis, and evaluation of medical records; the abstraction and recording of pertinent medical information; and the monitoring of patient status. The Senior Research Data Curation Specialist will be responsible for the collection, management, and quality assurance review of patient clinical data.

  1. Evaluating and tracking the eligibility of cases for inclusion in the study.
  2. Maintaining on-going communications with study team for data collection needs.
  3. Accessing patient demographic, clinical, and research information from the clinical systems including but not limited to the electronic medical record.
  4. Reviewing and abstracting the medical records for patients. Entering the clinical and research data into the designated database.
  5. Reviewing data for quality and completeness, through targeted audits, source data verification and reporting software tools.
  6. Collaborating with the Director, researchers, and research staff in the continued development of the research projects.
  7. Assist in the creation and maintenance of accrual and data quality assurance reports.
  8. Assisting in the development of data curation directives.

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's preferred.
  • 3+ years of clinical research experience in a health related field.
  • Experience using Epic and comfort with learning new database interfaces.
  • Requires limited supervision.
  • Experience working in a medical or scientific research setting or comparable technology orientated business environment required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow-through.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.
  • Must practice discretion and adhere to institutional confidentiality guidelines at all times.
  • Must have computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office.
