Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Division of Philanthropy, supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund, seeks passionate, focused, and resourceful fundraising and operations staff who want to work in a collaborative and rewarding environment. In the fiscal year 2024, the Division of Philanthropy raised over $405 million due to the hard work of our 300+ dedicated staff and committed donors working together to achieve Dana-Farber’s mission to create a world without cancer.

Dana-Farber recently announced the completion of one of the largest fundraising campaigns focused entirely on cancer, raising a record $2.5 billion. Over the course of seven years, The Dana-Farber Campaign supported revolutionary science and extraordinary care thanks to a community of support that made this possible. Administration
Administration oversees and drives staffing, learning & development, and operations functions for the Division of Philanthropy’s 300+ staff.
Annual Giving
Annual Giving fundraises through three programs--Direct Marketing, Prospect Management (including Palm Beach fundraising), and Special Programs—to raise $30M+ annually in non-event, unrestricted and restricted gifts of up to $1-$250,000.
Campaign
The campaign team is responsible for the strategic planning, management, implementation, and oversight of all activities related to The Dana-Farber Campaign and subsequent campaigns.
Philanthropy Marketing & Communications
Philanthropy Communications is a dynamic team of mission-driven project managers/writers, graphic designers, and production professionals handling all facets of marketing for events and initiatives serving the Division of Philanthropy. Projects include marketing collateral, publications, proposals, video, animation, special projects, and content for multiple digital platforms.
Corporate Partnerships
Corporate Partnerships secures philanthropic support from companies and corporate foundations through major gifts and grants, creative cause marketing partnerships, and sponsorships for Jimmy Fund events.
Digital Marketing
The Digital Marketing team develops and implements online marketing strategies to maximize giving, event participation, volunteering, and engagement. Collaborating with our Philanthropy partners, we build websites, produce emails, create social media and digital advertising campaigns, and generate analyses.
Donor Experience and Engagement
Donor Experience and Engagement (DE&E) builds lifelong relationships with donors by recognizing their contributions, sharing progress updates, and demonstrating the impact their giving has on our shared goal to reduce the burden of cancer. DE&E collaborates as a strategic partner with all Philanthropy teams by creating immersive and participatory experiences, resources, and innovations to actively involve donors in Dana-Farber's mission.
Finance
Internal finance, the Fiscal & Regulatory Management team, provide expertise and management in gift processing, revenue and expense management, and regulatory compliance.
Foundation Relations
Foundation Relations strategically seeks charitable support from foundations for Institutional priorities, disease centers, departments, and programs.
Gift Administration
Gift Administration is responsible for the majority of gift processing and gift/donor-related inquiries received to the Division of Philanthropy. This department is comprised of the Data Input, Data Integrity, and Donor Services teams.
Individual Giving
Individual Giving at DFCI encompasses a comprehensive strategy to engage donors at all levels of philanthropic capacity, fostering lifelong relationships to support the Institute’s mission. Through tailored approaches, Individual Giving integrates four critical areas:

Information Systems
Philanthropy IS manages and supports the systems and processes related to constituent data management, information security, digital fundraising, data integrations, and revenue generation specific to DFCI’s Division of Philanthropy. The team provides a broad range of services to assist with the achievement of revenue goals and operational efficiencies by focusing on strong relationships and bringing solutions forward. This highly experienced group of technology thought leaders is perfectly positioned for the ever-changing DFCI Philanthropy environment.
Jimmy Fund Community Events & Partnerships
The Community Events & Partnerships staff conceptualize, plan, and execute inspiring fundraising events that engage the community and key partners in the Jimmy Fund’s mission. These events and program include the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl, Pickleball for a Purpose, and many others. Additionally, the team supports hundreds of volunteer event organizers throughout the year as they turn their passion into raising funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This includes everything from lemonade stands to golf tournaments. Established in 1983, Jimmy Fund Golf is one of the nation's oldest and largest charity golf programs. Volunteer-drive events raise more than $8M annually for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Jimmy Fund Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
The Peer-to-Peer Fundraising (P2P) team manages the Jimmy Fund’s signature P2P events. This includes the Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s signature fundraising event. The Walk features four different routes along the famed Boston Marathon® course as well as the option to participate virtually. The Jimmy Fund Walk has raised more than $175 million since its inception in 1989, and it is the highest fundraising single-day event in the nation. Additionally, the team supports individuals and groups who chose to raise funds for Dana-Farber through renowned running events such as the Boston Marathon®, Falmouth Road Race, and B.A.A. Half Marathon plus our Run Any Race program. This dedicated community of runners has raised more than $150 million since 1990.
Operations & Strategic Planning
Operations & Strategic Planning manages Division-wide policies, implementing and executing strategies that enhance the performance of the Division maximizing fundraising efforts.
OSVP
The Office of the Senior Vice President (OSVP) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the Division of Philanthropy as well as serving as a conduit between the Division, the Institute, the Institute’s Executive Leadership team, affiliated organizations and critical partners, and Trustees. They oversee the planning processes to set and meet Division and team goals, the Dana-Farber campaign, and other special fundraising initiatives.
Planned Giving
Planned Giving educates and cultivates donors, advisors, volunteers, and trustees about utilizing estate planning vehicles such as bequests, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, life insurance, retirement plan assets, real estate, privately held securities, pooled income funds, and other gift arrangements to provide current and future support to the Institute many times while also providing tax benefits to the donor.
Prospect Research
Prospect Research provides accurate, concise, and strategic information on individuals and organizations to support the Division of Philanthropy in achieving its fundraising goals.
Strategic Philanthropic Partnerships
Strategic Philanthropic Partnerships works pan-Division to identify, strengthen, and amplify key relationships between Dana-Farber and organizations or audiences that have or may wish to develop reciprocal, integrated, and long-term relationships. These partners are integral to—and benefited by—our mission, brand, and ongoing work to create and sustain an engaged donor community and to defy cancer.
