Overview

The Associate Director assists the Director and Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Corporate Partnerships in attaining short and long-term goals for Corporate Partnerships (CP) and is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and management of a portfolio of approximately 150 $5,000-100,000+ prospects, raising funds for selected patient support and community benefits programs, along with the Office for Faculty Development and other specific Institute priorities as assigned, and will work closely with the Director to build, manage, and sustain a major gifts program. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals. Reports to the Director of Corporate Partnerships.

 

The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and closing of $500,000-$1M worth of gifts and grants annually, and with the Director, a total portfolio of $2M-$3M annually;
  • Identify and cultivate corporate prospects;
  • Work with Director, AVP, high-level management, faculty and program leaders, trustees, volunteer leadership, and staff to develop proposals for specific programmatic and capital funding needs and to manage overall corporate fundraising efforts for assigned areas;
  • With Director, work with colleagues within the Jimmy Fund, Foundation Relations, Annual Giving, Transformational Giving, Principal Giving, and Major Giving teams to build, manage, and sustain a corporate major gifts program ($50K+ gifts);
  • Work with Fiscal & Regulatory Management team to ensure proper state and federal compliance procedures;
  • Organize and facilitate visits for corporate prospects in portfolio areas;
  • Steward relationships with corporate Senior Vice President, Executive Officers, Vice Presidents, Marketing Directors, and Branch Managers to further Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s relationships with them and to solidify and grow assigned prospects and programs;
  • Develop and maintain fundraising marketing collateral for select patient support and community benefits programs, along with the Office for Faculty Development, for use with donors and teams;
  • Submit letters of intent and proposals, and oversee submission of follow-up correspondence;
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports on fundraising activities;
  • Represent Dana-Farber at off-site presentations and meetings;
  • Travel as appropriate to meet with prospects;
  • Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with 6-8 years of relevant work experience required. Preference for candidates with previous solicitation and proposal experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong orientation to donor relations; well-organized and able to prioritize tasks; ability to manage a multitude of projects.  Self-starter with ability to work independently as well as team member. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products. Must exercise significant judgment and confidentiality in working with prospects, volunteers, and Institute staff.  Strong ability to work cross functionally and develop trust and rapport amongst Jimmy Fund teams. Be seen as a leader and resource with regards to sponsorship.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. Some evening and weekend work may be required during peak times. Some local travel primarily in MA.
