Overview

The Materials Management Technician I will receive on the job training in order to perform a variety of tasks related to the receipt and distribution of supplies for use in the labs within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility.

Responsibilities

  • Unpacks and assembles materials as directed and removes and disposes of unneeded packing materials.
  • Maintains and stocks clean room gowning areas with inventory of personal protective equipment required for class 10,000 clean room.
  • Delivers materials to appropriate locations accurately and obtains proper authorization of delivered materials.
  • Assists in preparing containers and other items to be shipped. Contacts appropriate shipping companies when shipping items.
  • Maintains records of supply inventory, both manually and on computer.
  • Exercises care in handling materials to avoid damage and breakage.
  • Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, by supplying cleaning supplies and keeping a clean work area.
  • Receives, distributes, collects, returns, assembles and disassembles supply kits for daily manufacturing and processing procedures.
  • Performs scheduled cleaning of equipment.
  • Takes call for environment and equipment monitoring.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Able to perform tasks under general supervision.
  • Able to observe and comply with all safe work practices, wear protective clothing when required and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Able to comply with hospital policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Positive interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Able to comply with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Able to work within the cGMP and cGTP guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility
  • Able to enter & retrieve data from computer data bases & spreadsheets.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education:  High School diploma required.

Physical Demands:

Ability to use computers, faxes, copiers and scanners.  Able to lift 50 lbs. without restriction, ability to move wheeled equipment up to 250 pounds, climb step stool and carry boxes.   This position requires a considerable amount of lifting and stocking of storage shelves to include, but not limited to, the moving of reagents, supplies or equipment.  All staff is cautioned on how to move objects, never to climb on chairs, and to call for assistance to move anything heavy.  Follow all OSHA and Safety guidelines as well as utilizing Universal Precautions.  All staff is not stationary in their job frequently standing and moving around.  This position requires an individual to be mobile throughout the day. Exposure to liquid nitrogen is possible.
