Overview

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a dynamic Project Manager to work in the newly established Center for Therapeutic Discovery. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a scientific background, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for applying science toward the therapies of tomorrow. The Project Manager will report to the Director, and will serve as a key member of the Center. 

The Center for Therapeutic Discovery works primarily in oncology indications and over several therapeutic modalities. As a member of the Center for Therapeutic Discovery project management team, the Project Manager will work with teams (typically comprised of faculty, Center staff and scientists) to support execution of research plans through a variety of in-house and outsourced capabilities. The Project Manager will exhibit a high degree of integrity, demonstrating professionalism at all times and handling confidential information appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operations of designated projects, including
    • Define deliverables and timelines at each project stage
    • Track progress against deliverables and timeline
    • Monitor expenses against project budgets 
    • Communicate effectively with scientific researchers
  • Design scopes of work in collaboration with senior project manager and execute contracts with contract research organizations (CROs), technical consultants, and other service providers as appropriate.
    • Draft scientific deliverables such as synthesis of chemical analogs
    • Monitor work completed by CROs, consultants, and other service providers
  • Coordinate communication between key stakeholders, including PIs and co-PIs, contracted vendors, other team members, and applicable University offices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the life sciences or related fields required. 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in positions involving project management, alliance management, scientific/technical evaluation, in a pharma/biotech and/or academic drug discovery setting preferred.

Additional Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in the life sciences or related field preferred.
  • Background knowledge in chemistry and biology 
  • Strong competencies in project management, outsourcing, resource management and organization with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and resources, while maintaining a focus on quality.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
  • Enjoys working in an open academic environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce and present clear, concise, and professionally written communications and presentations.
