Overview

This position's work location is fully remote with occasional onsite time as needed. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).

The Research Contracts Specialist will draft, review, and execute a high-volume of research agreements.  Partners with their manager and/or senior members on the Licensing and Contracts Teams on all duties.

Responsibilities

Agreements/Transactions

  • Uses institutional templates to guide negotiations.
  • In partnership with manager/senior staff, negotiates confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, multi-site and academic collaboration agreements and amendments to the foregoing.
  • May negotiate sponsored research agreements and non-exclusive research reagent licenses with support from manager.

PI Relationship Management/Communication

  • Responds to inquiries from PIs and other parties with final review by manager based on complexity.
  • Coordinate and attends meetings with PIs and other parties, contributing to discussion as able.
  • Works with manager to gain familiarity with institutional policies and practices.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; JD or PhD is preferred.
  • 1 year of related experience (i.e. through an internship) with exposure to legal proceedings and transactions at a law firm, industry contracts team, or academic institution. No deal sheet required at this level.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous transactions and bring to closure in a timely manner
  • Ability to work successfully with internal stakeholders (clinicians, scientists, administrators) and external industry counterparts
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and complex organization with multiple stakeholders
