Overview

The Uppaluri lab in the Department of Medical Oncology is seeking an intelligent, creative and collegial post-doctoral research fellow to join our group. We perform pre-clinical mouse modeling and human translational work towards identifying and targeting genomic and immunologic dependencies to improve head and neck cancer patient outcomes. Our group has expertise in carcinogen induced oral cancer models and in performing first in class immune and small molecule therapeutic clinical trials.

The main focus of this NIH funded postdoc position is to define mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy (antiPD1) and targeted therapy in head and neck cancers using basic and translational approaches.

Research areas in our lab include cancer genome discovery, CRISPR screening, investigation of tumor microenvironment and T cell biology using high-dimensional methodologies (scRNAseq, mass cytometry, etc.), development and study of novel oncogene-inducible and carcinogen-based oral cancer models and analysis of patient samples from ongoing clinical trials to define molecular correlates of response, improved therapeutic targeting strategies and new biological insights.

We are a highly collaborative group and interact closely with cancer biologists, clinicians, and computational biologists to comprehensively understand head and neck cancer related biology.

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS, and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
