Overview

This role will focus on developing, producing and/or editing branded content for Dana-Farber. The Writer/Digital Content Producer plays a critical role in achieving key communications goals for both workforce and cancer-centric audiences.

The person in this position will be a versatile storyteller and key collaborator in the department and will work with team members to bring ideas to fruition in a timely fashion as they continuously identify areas of opportunity for content with high impact.

Through branded storytelling across platforms, this role will produce and/or edit content, video, and positive, people-focused stories to drive awareness and emotional connection to the Dana-Farber brand, increase engagement with our brand content, and support aggressive recruitment goals for the Future Cancer Hospital. Stories will be engaging, thoughtful, and well-researched and written.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Write and/or edit content for Dana-Farber channels, including stories, social media posts, video, infographics, and more, with eye for accuracy, quality engaging visuals, and best practices such as search engine optimization (SEO).

  • Regularly propose, execute, and project manage social video and other multimedia content in line with key performance indicators such as reach, engagement, and website traffic.

  • Work with internal team members to identify messaging priorities.

  • Work with designers, video production, and other team members to storyboard, script, and produce content.

  • Manage logistics of some content operations, including social videos.

  • Continually push forward and identify storytelling opportunities and gaps for the Dana-Farber brand.

  • Manage communications requests from Institute departments as needed.

  • Identify content ideas from across departments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Demonstrated high editorial skills and standards.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently.

  • Skilled at developing rapport with staff at all levels of the Institute and building a reliable network of contacts and sources.

  • Perceptive and probing interview skills.

  • Versatility to modify writing/editing style for different audiences and purposes.

  • Ability to relate technical material in a variety of fields—administration, human resources, facilities and finance—in a style that is easily comprehensible to general readers.

  • Ability to be diplomatic, especially during the text-clearing process.

 

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication preferred.

  • 3 years of writing and/or editing experience required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
