Overview

The Accreditation Manager, Graduate Medical Education (GME) reports to the Director, Education Administration, working under the direction of the DIO and is an integral member of GME leadership at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The Accreditation Manager provides operational and administrative leadership to help support the accreditation of GME training programs at DFCI. The Accreditation Manager is responsible for ensuring that DFCI GME is compliant with ACGME requirements by managing institutional accreditation requirements and maintaining accreditation standards. This role will assist in the development of new accredited and non-accredited training programs across the institution by collaborating with key educational leaders to help develop and maintain the tools, systems, and processes to the institution and its training programs are addressing all accreditation requirements. The Accreditation Manager is essential to ensure that DFCI GME can advance DFCI’s mission to foster excellence in cancer education.

Education Office

  •  Establish and maintain effective working relationship between DFCI GME, medical education training programs, and affiliate hospitals.
  •  Maintain current knowledge of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Review Committee (RC), and National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) guidelines.
  • Serve as a resource on ACMGE policies and procedures for GME Program Directors and Program Administrators.
  • Promote processes that streamline activities across training programs and encourage best practices to support accreditation and compliance.
  • Partner with Education Office team members to address accreditation requirements and facilitate the continued growth and improvement of the clinical learning environment.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce redundancy, and enhance efficiency across educational domains.
  • Represent the Education Office in strategic efforts and in cross-functional collaboration with faculty, trainees, and other staff.
  • Position will be responsible for supervision of 1-2 Education Office FTE.

ACGME Accreditation and Compliance

Institutional Accreditation

  • Maintain knowledge of ACGME accreditation requirements and standards to best support institutional initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain institutional graduate medical education (GME) accreditation based on ACGME requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of institutional and GME policies, procedures and curricular requirements.
  • Develop procedures for DFCI’s GME office and participate in strategic planning.
  • Update and maintain accreditation data pertaining to new program applications, upcoming site visits, and accreditation results for all accreditation decisions.
  • Collect and analyze data for the ACGME Annual Institutional Review (AIR).
  • Reviews annual program assessment documents and provides suggested edits for program policies and procedures to better meet accreditation requirements.
  • Play a key role in orientations, ACGME site visits, as needed.
  • Oversee and maintain the implementation of the training personnel management system.
  • May be responsible for maintaining program databases for trainee record, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports to track program progress and outcome.

Program Accreditation

  • Monitor GME accreditation compliance among all training (residency/ fellowship) programs.
  • Review and oversee communications between programs and accrediting bodies, such as ACGME, including annual ADS updates and responses to citations.
  • Communicate with programs to ensure compliance with annual ACGME updates, surveys, and evaluations.
  • Prepare accreditation documents and resources to be used by all GME programs.
  • Work closely with program administrative staff providing guidance on DFCI GME processes and accreditation best practices.


Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and Subcommittees

  • Participate in GMEC and GMEC subcommittee meetings.
  • Maintain GMEC records, including GMEC minutes, communications and accreditation actions.
  • Maintain list of GMEC & Subcommittee follow-up actions and ensure completion.
  • Monitor and maintain all GMEC policies and associated approvals through GMEC.

Collaboration and Mentorship

  • Serve as a central liaison for key faculty and administrators in training programs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff supporting accredited programs, ensuring consistency and professional development across the education portfolio.
  • Work closely with medical education colleagues to build an understanding of ACGME standards and requirements.
  • Serve as liaison to relevant DFCI education committees, compliance discussions, and strategic accreditation initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Graduate Medical Education within a healthcare setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ACGME requirements and the ability to apply them across interprofessional education programs.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills to manage complex institutional accreditation timelines, processes, and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with faculty, clinicians, and administrative staff across the institute.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence with stakeholders to provide effective support and guidance to education leaders and colleagues; model professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant GME accreditation platforms (e.g. ACGME ADS, Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), National Resident Match Program (NRMP), MedHub, New Innovations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff, fostering consistency, accuracy, and professional growth within the education team.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of related work experience in graduate medical education.
