The Associate Director, Major Gifts raises funds from individuals, families, and family foundations for priorities in research and care across Dana-Farber. The position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and close gifts of $100,000+ in support of research, care, and Institute priorities. Responsible for assisting the entire Division reach financial goals. Reports to a Senior Director of Major Gifts. Internal title: Associate Director, Individual Giving.
This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite each week at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

- Meet quarterly and annual fundraising goals as determined by the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Principal & Major Gifts (PMG)
- Manage a dynamic portfolio of approximately 100-125 prospects with a goal of raising a minimum of $1M-$2M annually
- Drive fundraising for a subset of Women’s Cancers Programs and/or research areas; cultivate relationships with selected faculty and staff to accomplish goals; and support fundraising goals for Institute priorities
- Collaborate with colleagues in other units, including Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate Partnerships, Foundation Relations, Donor Relations, and Jimmy Fund, to maximize donor engagement and philanthropic commitment
- Conduct 8-10 donor visits monthly
- Track prospect and donor activity in ClearView database; provide activity and revenue reports as requested
- Assist in planning of special events and forums. Responsibilities include coordinating faculty presentations, communication with co-chairs and attendees/ members, and follow up
- With Senior Director and AVP of PMG, develop annual fundraising goal; mid-year revision, and year-end reporting as requested
- Travel to represent Dana-Farber as needed
- Complete other special projects as assigned by Senior Director and AVP of PMG
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and managerial capabilities
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks also required
- Fundraising experience in a healthcare setting a plus
- Public speaking experience and effectiveness necessary
- Ability to communicate and work with people of all levels
- Must exercise significant judgment and confidentiality in working with prospects, volunteers and Institute staff
- Travel and evening and weekend work may be required
- Microsoft Office Suite familiarity necessary
- This position will evaluate current programs and create and execute approved plans to expand and diversify the donors and participants for the events assigned in order to broaden our donor base and create even more inclusive events. Experience with diverse donors is a plus
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
This role requires a bachelor’s degree, along with 6-8 years of experience in Major Gift or leadership-level Annual Fund roles. Healthcare experience is a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to Senior Director of Principal & Major Gifts. Shared supervision of one Assistant. Works independently and as part of a team.
