Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Patrols buildings and grounds and identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
• Provides a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful. Creates safety awareness among the Institute community.
• Responds to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients and active response. Assists with potentially violent patients and detains individuals suspected of criminal conduct.
• Conducts preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential misconduct. Gathers, analyzes, evaluates, and utilizes facts and evidence. Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects. Maintains accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence.
• Prepares and submits written reports and logs all incidents thoroughly and accurately.
• Conducts fire extinguisher inspections per assignment of SOD, responds to fire drills, and provides escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
• May be assigned to special duties, off-site locations, and/or other shifts. Special duties include but are not limited to Bike Patrol and/or Community Service Officer. Off-site locations include but are not limited to administrative buildings, ambulatory care centers, and/or community-based clinics. Will be cross trained in other locations beyond normally assigned workspace.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in the operation of office equipment including computers.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Exemplary customer service and communication skills.
• Strong risk analysis and organizational skills.
• Ability to control complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence.
• Reliable and flexible.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
High school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred.
1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus.
License/Certification/Registration Required:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver’s license.
• Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check.
• Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department):
o CPR/AED/First Aid
o Narcan (Naloxone) Training
o AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training

Pay Transparency Statement
The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
