The Associate Writer/Digital Content Producer, writes, produces, curates, and edits content for Dana-Farber’s diverse communications channels, advancing our reputation and connecting staff to our mission through effective, consistent storytelling, both online and in print. The position is an integral part of Dana-Farber’s ambitious communications and marketing efforts and has major responsibility for creating a variety of content.
This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Boston, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).

- Serves as a writer, editor and source for content planning for a wide variety of Communications Department efforts, including Dana-Farber internal and external channels
- Write web copy and stories about DFCI’s administrative, clinical and research activities
- Produce digital content such as social media content, videos, podcasts, and other interactive content
- Adapt and update existing content for online distribution
- Support editorial efforts of other communications department members
- Help ensure that external content reflects best practices in SEO and SEM
- Help ensure that online content reflects the appropriate voice, tone and level of complexity and detail
- Work with web team to organize, develop, write, and edit content for assigned sections of the different Dana-Farber web sites.
- Develop copy for online marketing campaigns
- Maintain relationships with Institute programs and staffers to stay current on Institute activities
- Propose appropriate articles, copy and other content for online channels
- Edit or proofread other stories and press releases as needed.
- Work with social media team to adapt content to social channels
- Manage workload to meet assigned deadlines.
- Maintain contact with assigned clinical and administrative staff in all areas of the Institute to stay current with breaking research and major events.

- Ability to write thoughtfully and prolifically under tight deadline pressure

- Exceptional editing and proofreading skills and knowledge of grammar and spelling
- Ability to relate technical material in a variety of fields—administration, human resources, clinical, research, facilities and finance—in a style that is easily comprehensible to general readers. Editorial vision to know what is informative, interesting and important
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- A team player with ability to work to tight deadlines, deliver results and use initiative
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with various content creation and editing programs
- Ability to pick up quickly on new software, equipment or various apps used to execute projects
- Skill at developing rapport with staff at all levels of the Institute and building a reliable network of contacts and sources
- Versatility to modify writing style for different audiences and purposes
- Ability to negotiate and be diplomatic, especially during the text-clearing process which may involve working with several administrators with competing requests for edits
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or related subject required.
- 1-3 years of writing experience, including some experience writing for online channels, required.

Pay Transparency Statement
The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
