Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Retail Operations, the Business Analyst supports business performance across the Supply Chain Division by delivering analytical insight, project leadership, and financial/compliance oversight. Partnering closely with the AVP, Directors, Sr Manager, this role helps optimize DME patient billing, ensure alignment with Friends Place requirements, and strengthen inventory management practices across Retail Services and Supply Chain. The Business Analyst will assess current workflows, identify improvement opportunities, plan and implement compliant billing processes aligned with federal, state, and payer regulations, and support adoption through cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder training. The role may lead projects and coordinate the work of team members, including individuals outside the direct reporting line.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathers business requirements and works with DFCI SME resources to translate into structured business processes and workflows with system supports. Trains department staff in new processes and requirements.
  • Serves as liaison between DFCI Epic Teams, Revenue, Cadence, and Friends Place. 
  • Manages DME billing operations for Friends Place in collaboration with the office of general counsel, revenue cycle, and billing compliance and Supply Chain leadership. Ensure compliant and timely billing practices for services by Friends Place.
  • Performs and documents routine billing audits. Stays abreast of current trends in DME billing and compliance.
  • Oversees all aspects of DME financial and business analytics. Develops financial performance objectives, ensures successful implementation, maintains key metrics, and dashboard reports that will regularly inform leadership of supply chain financial performance.
  • Develops and maintains effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients, business partners, and vendors.
  • May manage or participate in special projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Epic scheduling and charge capture/charge processing workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) coding, billing, and compliance requirements, including federal, state, and payer guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge of CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to document new processes and deliver effective stakeholder training to support adoption and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, retail operations, and DME regulatory and payer requirements.
  • Excellent financial management, forecasting, and analytical skills; experienced in interpreting data to guide decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and contribute as a team member; committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.
  • Systems-oriented problem solver who can manage complex, fast-changing workflows, assess tradeoffs, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to ensure programs and processes comply with Federal and State regulations and applicable private accrediting standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant business tools/technology.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Healthcare or related field required.
  • 5+ years of relevant business analyst experience required.
  • Experience navigating Epic Hyperspace to support operational, billing, and reporting workflows in a healthcare setting required.
  • Experience in Medical Records, Patient Accounts, EMRs preferred.
