The Senior IS Project Manager for symptom management will lead the technical analysis, design and implementation of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) symptom management platform. With the goal to improve patient outcomes and support clinical operations using standardized resources and processes focused on symptom management the future symptom management program will: improve prevention and reduction in security of symptoms; provide surveillance to identify patients with potentially serious symptoms; and provide a standardized, evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach to treating symptoms using pathways and other resources. This role will be responsible for coordinating resources to understand the business and technical requirements, including workflow design/use cases to plan a technical solution that will leverage DFCI symptom management content and knowledge to deliver a common integrated platform used by patients and care team members to address management of symptoms. Solution expected to have conceptual design pilots to inform further feature and functional design of longer-term product. This role will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including IT technical staff, business analysts, clinical leaders and external vendors/teams throughout the project and will manage feasibility, scope, requirements, and schedules to ensure project success.

- Manages project throughout full lifecycle with respect to scope, schedule, cost and quality. Utilizes recognized project management methodology
- Coordinates and track project resources across multi-disciplinary teams
- Manages technical teams’ work, tasks, dependencies alongside stakeholders’ requirements and expectations
- Drafts and finalizes the project charter with stakeholder input
- Collaborates with the business in needs definition, business assessment, and requirements gathering
- Establishes success metrics with project constituents
- Tracks, manages and communicates key issues and risks with transparency
- Provides regular project communication updates to core IT team and broader stakeholder groups
- Coordinates and leads project team meetings, facilitating collaboration, prioritization and guiding issue resolution
- Provides regular written status reports to project team and other stakeholders
- Facilitates use case development and workflow mapping sessions
- Oversees technical specification development including platform infrastructure, integration and application components
- Manages and track outcomes of technical testing execution
- Oversees go-live resource coordination and support schedules
- Oversees and tracks IT related budget activities for the project
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project or Smartsheet)
- Proficient in initiating, planning and executing projects
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and their benefits and application for different projects including agile, scrum and waterfall
- Understanding of the technology development cycle: Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Go-live planning and execution preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization – executive leadership, senior managers, technical staff and potential end users
- Ability to draft project charter & manage schedule, risks, issues, budget, status reports
- Ability to work with a high degree of flexibility and fluidity – adaptable to changing environment and priorities with ability to manage project and project team through the changes
- Demonstrated ability to direct and manage human-centered product design, development and testing from inception through launch
- Ability to (act as Agile Product Owner) understand end user needs, set strategy, evaluate ideas, define releases, prioritize features, etc.
- Ability to (act as Scrum Master) manage a Kanban board, backlog and regular releases
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The role requires a bachelor's degree, with a master's degree preferred, and at least 8 years of project management experience, ideally in healthcare or IT. Candidates should have experience managing medium to large project teams, business process improvement, and client management, with certifications like Certified Scrum Master or PMP being a plus.

Pay Transparency Statement
The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
