Overview

Reporting to the Director of Oncology Access, the Access Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient Oncology Access Department with a focus on coordination of inpatient elective admission scheduling and appropriate triage location for hospital admissions. This role serves as direct supervisor for Inpatient Access Coordinators and a Program Administrator and oversees staff assignments to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts for this 24/7 team. The Access Manager is responsible for onboarding and training new hires and existing staff on new processes and protocols.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervises and coordinates Patient Access Coordinators and Program Administrator. 
• Drives compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and revenue cycle best practices. 
• Monitors performance metrics, identifies trends, and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. 
• Provides coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. 
• Oversees all scheduling, training, workflow, staff assignments, and coverage for all Access Coordinators and Program Administrators.
• Identifies operational issues and challenges and works with Access Director for improvements and solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Understanding of healthcare operations (hospital admissions, patient transfers, bed management/capacity concepts).
• Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to oversee employees.
• Knowledgeable with Epic, Outlook, Microsoft Office.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to take on additional responsibilities as situations require. 
• Ability to adapt to ever-changing environment.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Nursing, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of Patient Access experience in a healthcare setting, with 2 years of progressive leadership experience in a supervisory or lead role required.

• Reliable high-speed internet; ability to use computer, VPN, softphone, and collaboration tools.
• Comfortable with prolonged screen time, rapid multitasking, and high-volume phone/virtual communication.
• Must work from within the United States. Residence in New England or an employer-approved state may be required, per HR policy.
