Overview

Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Retail Supervisor assists with daily department operations of the retail shops at Dana-Farber. The Supervisor is directly responsible for the supervision of retail operations employees and daily workflows including facilitation of daily work assignments, trouble-shooting problem patient issues and staff training and education.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees day-to-day department workflow, activities, and allocation of resources. Ensures adequate daily scheduling of staff coverage. May cover available shifts as needed in absence of staff, including front desk operations, financial Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions, handling cash and making change.
  • Executes strategies to drive sales and customer loyalty through effective sales and service leader behaviors.
  • Assists Retail Manager with interviewing, orientation, training, and continuing education program for staff. Participates in the criteria-based performance appraisals of Retail staff.
  • Coordinates training for and mentoring of staff while developing and leading training programs.
  • Leads rollouts of new initiatives and programs. Participates in the development of process improvements and optimization of workflows.
  • Assists Buyer for replenishment merchandise for OTC Friends Place.
  • Collaborates with Physical Therapists to ensure orders are placed properly and insurance coverage and payment are confirmed.
  • Assists International Patient Coordinator with DME merchandise needs. Works with international patients to submit invoices for reimbursement.
  • Oversees and ensures accurate completion of special-order processes.
  • Handles complex customer service and patient care issues.
  • Functions as a content expert/resource leader in quality improvement/process improvement initiatives and projects. Ensures quality care and adherence to standard operating procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Ensures and maintains high customer service standards set by DFCI.
  • Ensures safe and clean environment and adheres to all hospital and departmental infection control procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all departmental, institutional, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Proficiency in computer application systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast–paced environment and multi-task as needed.
    • Demonstrated ability to delegate to other team members.
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and during emergency situations.
    • Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in a constantly changing environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to be reliable and dependable under a variety of circumstances.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including responsiveness to staff and clinical provider needs.
    • Effective and professional verbal and written communicate skills.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of retail experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Epic systems experience preferred.
