Overview

Perform work involving the skills of maintenance or trade occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Perform moving functions.

  • Responsible for doing minor mechanical work, floor and ceiling tiles, lamps, coat hooks, door stops, cove base and minor carpentry.
  • Must be able to assist other trades and be able to using the appropriate tools. 
  • Responsible for maintaining records of work done, time records and P/M records through the CMMS system.
  • Responsible to assist Senior Mover and/or perform moving functions as needed per Move Memos.
  • Must provide the highest level of personal protection at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to be on-call.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Some basic mechanical and/or construction ability needed, including carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing equipment; repairing buildings, floors, or stairs; pipe fitting; insulating; welding; machining, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic moving tools, equipment and lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety on the job for the protection of people, data, property, and the institution.
  • “Self starter” with a high degree of initiative and responsibility to keep systems reliable and operating at minimum cost. 
  • The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule, procedure, or guideline.
  • Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to utilize tools of the trade.
  • The ability to communicate, listen, and comprehend information and ideas and work collaboratively with others.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate. Trade school graduate preferred.
  • Experience pertaining to building utility system operations and relocation activities.
