This position's work location is fully remote with the ocassional time onsite as needed. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).
The Grants Management Officer I, Post-Award supports the financial and administrative management of awarded grants and contracts by carrying out defined post-award processes for an assigned portfolio. Responsibilities include reviewing terms and conditions for incoming federal awards and subawards to confirm acceptability and compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements, as well as reviewing incoming and outgoing billing agreements for completeness and timely processing.
This role initiates account set-up in accordance with Grants & Contracts business practices for document management, maintains accurate and audit-ready award records, and supports the timely review and submission of final progress reports. The position also stays current on federal and non-federal regulations, policies, and processes and performs other duties as assigned.
Working closely with department research administrators, Research Accounting, and the Grants Management Officer II, this position supports InfoEd record set-up for authorized budgets, assists with prior approval requests, and helps coordinate related post-award communications with sponsors. As a liaison among investigators, departments, and sponsors, the Grants Management Officer I, Post-Award helps promote compliance and supports the effective administration of funded research projects, escalating more complex post-award issues as appropriate.

- Work with investigators and department administrators in the development and submission of grant and contract applications
- Review administrative sections of grant and contract applications for completeness, accuracy and compliance with DFCI and sponsor policies and procedures. For example: signature approvals, human and/or animal regulations, budget restrictions, and subcontract guidelines
- Review grant application budgets with a primary focus toward testing that appropriate fringe benefit, indirect cost, and shared service rates are used
- Negotiate award terms with sponsors, maximizing benefits to DFCI
- Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements for those awards that contain projects outside DFCI, assuring that agreements include all necessary provisions to allow for compliance with DFCI and sponsor policies and procedures
- Work with administrators, investigators and finance in the resolution of budgetary problems, making sure that any resolutions are in compliance with sponsor and DFCI guidelines
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Maintains knowledge base on changing regulations and technologies used in Federal and Non-Federal grant applications
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices and terminology
- Has knowledge of state and federal grants procedures and reports
- Applies fundamentals of budgeting and accounting to grant administration
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- The position requires a BS/BA degree
- 3-7 years of experience in pre-award grants management preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Grants Management Administrators will provide functional supervision or training to office staff and department grants management specialist. May provide work direction to office support staff and students.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
