Reporting to the Director of Finance Systems Transformation, the Payroll Accounting Systems Analyst provides tactical and analytical systems design and support to the Payroll and Finance organization and its systems (Workday Payroll and related integrations with HRIS, Time Tracking, Benefits, and Financial Accounting). This role is a key member of the cross-functional Workday support team, responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and continuous optimization of Payroll Accounting system capabilities for payroll processing, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance.
This newly established position will collaborate closely with Payroll, HRIS, Finance, Accounting, Budget, and IS teams to maintain and enhance core payroll and financial systems and applications, including but not limited to Workday, and related integrations to timekeeping, benefits, and general ledger systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Play a critical role in the continuous design, implementation, and optimization of Workday Payroll and accounting functionality.
- Assist in assessing new system functionality and implementing payroll accounting and reporting tools.
- Lead and document testing, implementation, and upgrade efforts for payroll and financial systems and integrations. Execute and document semi-annual end-to-end testing for Workday updates.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of payroll system processes, user guides, and standard operating procedures. Train payroll and accounting staff on system best practices and support ongoing process improvement.
- Serve as the primary contact for end users in Payroll and Finance requiring technical or functional support.
- Collaborate with HRIS, Finance, IS, and external vendors to identify, design, and implement payroll system enhancements and integrations.
- Recommend and implement process improvements based on user feedback and system performance.
- Collaborate with Payroll, Finance, Benefits, and Compensation teams to identify and document detailed test plans for periodic system enhancements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of HR and payroll principles, processes, and payroll/accounting workflows.
- Proficiency in Workday Payroll, HRIS integrations, general ledger systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong systems mindset with expertise in payroll processing and related technologies.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant payroll, Workday, or other related experience. 2 years of Workday experience required.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
